Lix treats single carriage returns as line endings. Line endings can be \n, and I suppose they can be \r\n for the Windows folks (even though Lix does not support Windows), but they are definitely not \r (except on Mac Classic, which was deprecated by Mac OS X two years before Nix's first release).
